Yes you can. For this, a back-up storage which we call “Hybrid” system is to be designed into the set-up. Hybrid systems can be connected to the grid, store excess power in batteries and run emergency loads from these batteries. During power outages, a Hybrid system allows for the critical loads (e.g., tv, ref, lights, fan) to run directly from Solar and battery.

Grid tie does not work during brown-out. This is solely because of safety. The grid tie set-up is designed to automatically shut down within seconds after the brown-out. When the grid is off, your excess power will energize the grid and could endanger by electrocution the linemen who are in the process of fixing the electric line.

If that is the case, the recommended system for you is the hybrid system. The hybrid system will include batteries so we can store the excess power during the day for use in the night or in case of brown-outs. However, during brown-outs, only the critical loads (e.g., tv, ref, lights, fan) should be supplied by the batteries.

Off-grid and hybrid are the only systems that can run at night due to its storage battery. However, we don’t recommend to connect aircon to the batteries as they would get used up easily, unless if we put in many batteries which would be additional investment for you.

According to Renewable Energy Act of 2008, net metering is when the excess power generated from the solar PV installation will be delivered to the local distribution grid of the electric distribution utility and will be used to offset the end-user’s electricity consumption.

In other words, end-users become “prosumers” or producers and consumers of electricity at the same time. In effect, end-users are able to generate savings on their electricity bill and protect themselves against rising electricity prices.

Net metering already exists in Cagayan de Oro. We have the most net-metering applications in the city. In fact, our office and showroom has net metering approved by Cepalco.

At any time, if our office ends up producing more electricity from our solar rooftop than what we use, we are able to send this power to the grid and help Cepalco meet electricity demand from other customers. In turn, we will be rewarded with a debit on our bill.

We are also in the talks with nearby utility companies and they support net metering, as mandated by the Renewable Energy Act of 2008.

We provide free installation for projects within Cagayan de Oro. However, for projects outside Cagayan de Oro, there will be a corresponding fee, depending on the logistical and manpower expenses incurred.
